ACE reduces the cost price through DFMA at NXP

Value engineering method are highly valuable methods for cost price reductions. ACE Engineering used the Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) method at NXP ITEC in Nijmegen (NL). The philosophy behind DFMA is quite simple: reduce the number of components. Fewer parts means less drawings, less ordering, less logistics, less assembling and finally lower costs.

The die-bonders and wire-bonders of NXP are already ten years in use. Despite the good performance NXP in collaboration with ACE ingenieurs- & adviesbureau decided to look again at the designs of several modules of the Adat3 platform. Lowering the costs were the highest goal. On the basis of the "foolproof" DFMA method, the price of the transport module dropped by nearly 30%.
