InMotion is a team of ambitious students mainly from TU/e (Technical University Eindhoven) and Fontys (University of applied science). They want to compete in the 24 hours of Le Mans through ‘Garage 56’ with a hybrid powertrain. In order to reach that goal, a full electric test platform (IMe) is developed to test the components of the electric powertrain on a racetrack. In 2016 they try to set the lap record for electric cars at Circuit Zandvoort and Nürnburgring Nordschleife.
ACE helped out InMotion with the packaging of the powertrain components. Challenges were to keep the center point of gravity as low as possible and mount the components in a smart way in order not to gain too much weight and make it durable for the race. Eventually ACE gave support in 3D CAD (Unigraphics NX), created technical drawings for production and made a guideline for assembling.
Within this project, BRACE Automotive was consulted for their expertise on automotive. BRACE is a sister organization of ACE who are specialized on Automotive.
ACE has conducted the following activities:
- Support in 3D CAD (Unigraphics NX) designing and assembling
- Layout development
- Technical Product Documentation (TPD)
- Create assembling instructions
